The Beatles and Stones pay tribute in Rio
For as long as both groups have existed, fans have debated whether the legendary British Invasion band was better, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Some people say the greatest rock duo is Lennon and McCartney, others say Jagger and Richards. Some people prefer “A Day in the Life,” others prefer “Paint it Black.” Some people like “Let It Be,” while others fight for “Let It Bleed.”
Whichever side you fall on in this debate, Thursday’s show at the Rio Theater will bring the two opposing sides together. Indie rock legend builds to spill to play Moe’s Alley
Thirty years, nine albums and countless lineup changes later, Built to Spill remains as popular in the college rock world as ever, bringing their blend of spacey, melodic indie rock to Mose Alley. It will be performed on stage on Saturday.
Built to Spill, formed in Boise, Idaho in 1992 with singer/guitarist Doug March as its sole permanent member, has been a staple on college radio stations since their 1993 debut, “Ultimate Alternative Wavers.” Masu. Bruce Cockburn to promote album ‘Rarities’ in Rio
For more than 55 years, Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn has been a folk legend. He has been recognized as such by the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2017, and his work has earned him an Outstanding Environmental Commitment Award in his home country and a Diamond Award from Queen Elizabeth II. was awarded the Jubilee Medal. He is scheduled to perform at the Rio Theater on Sunday.
Cockburn’s musical career dates back to 1967, when he joined the Esquires in his final year, then worked with Flying Circus (later Olivas) and Three’s A Crowd, before releasing his self-titled debut solo album in 1970. was released.
