Getting things done requires organization, and to-do apps are a valuable tool to help you achieve that.
There are a lot of great to-do list apps for Linux, from the no-frills centralized ones to the complex ones with all the bells and whistles. In this post, I’ll focus on a Linux ToDo app that I’ve been using heavily over the past few months. business.
businessis a GTK4/libadwaita app written in Python with a simple design and feature set, perfect for people like me who prioritize completing tasks over detailed organization.
Major features business Includes the following features:
- Add/delete/edit tasks/subtasks
- Mark a task/subtask as complete
- Give your tasks an accent color
- Sync tasks with Nextcloud/CalDAV
- Drag and drop tasks to reorder them
- Import/export tasks to .json
Support for Nextcloud and CalDAV sync was recently added. This results in business It’s much more flexible as you can check your progress across different devices without having to use arcane workarounds.
Subtasks can also contain subtasks, so you can create “nested” notes with smaller tasks within them. The ability to assign one of seven accent colors enhances this functionality by making it easier to visually distinguish tasks and subtasks.
You can hide tasks by clearing completed tasks. Once cleared, it will be moved to the sidebar, which can be toggled using the toolbar button (the sidebar will appear if there is enough space, but you can also hide it again).
If you accidentally mark a task as complete and then clear the completed task, there’s no need to panic. Open the Deleted Tasks sidebar and click the “checkmark” icon next to the task you want to restore. This will send it back to its original location.
I have a weak working memory (as you may have noticed đŸ˜…), so I need to write things down, put them on my calendar, and set reminders.apps like business This is very helpful because it keeps things you need to do (that you wouldn’t otherwise remember) “on the surface” until you actually do them.
Basically, I focus squarely on what needs to be done.
Check out what to do today
In summary, business It helps you organize and prioritize your pending tasks and make better use of your time in the process. Use this as a basic checklist, or break things down into subtasks and work on them in small increments to keep track of remaining tasks and track your progress so far.
No matter how you use it, this app will help you spend less time stressing about the things you need to get done and more time getting them done. Please, try it.
