Diogo Jota has left fans in hysterics after he was spotted arriving at training with his phone unlocked.
It’s a huge boost for Liverpool with the Reds set to be without key man Mohamed Salah for several weeks at the African Cup of Nations, with the forward recently returning to full fitness.
He made his first appearance since November, when he was sidelined with a muscular injury, and scored the Reds’ second goal in a narrow 2-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day.
The Portuguese star is known for his ability in Liverpool’s front three, but has also gained a bit of a reputation as a committed EA Sports FC player in recent months.
In a video shared on Liverpool’s social media accounts on Friday, Jota was seen among a number of players arriving for training, playing his favorite game on the go.
The video, which was just under a minute long, included footage of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and captain Virgil van Dijk arriving at the AXA training center in Kirkby.
About halfway through the video, Jota can be seen walking through a door wearing an orange jumper and holding a mobile phone.
However, the 27-year-old appeared to have forgotten to lock his phone and was clearly playing on the EAS FC companion app.
The companion app is a program commonly used by players of Ultimate Team, the popular game mode of the game formerly known as FIFA.
Ultimate Team allows players to build squads or teams from any player in the game and challenge other players online who have done the same in matches.
And while matches can only be played via console on PC, the point of the companion app is to allow users to access their team and use other features in Ultimate Team even when they’re away from their regular screen. That’s it.
One fan said: “Jota’s dedication is unreal.” “A companion app during training!”
“The struggle never stops!” added another, while a third said: “He was improving the EAFC 24 app, hahaha!”
Jota is a regular in the Ultimate Team and made headlines in 2020 when he defeated Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi in the ePremier League Invitational.
The forward scored four goals himself in the match, which finished 8-2 against the Portuguese.
“Ndidi gave a good effort, but I think I know the game better than him,” Jota said after the match. “Also, Ndidi always goes after me.” [real life] It’s the field so it’s my turn! ”
