The San Juan County Department of Environmental Management is seeking proposals for salmon recovery projects for the Salmon Recovery Fund Board (SRFB)’s 2024 grant cycle. We welcome applications from private individuals, nonprofit organizations, local, state, and tribal governments, and special districts. The deadline for submitting a letter of intent is February 16, 2024.
In addition to regular salmon recovery projects, this year’s grant round also includes special riparian funds allocated for riparian projects in San Juan County through the Climate Change Act. The exact amount of funding available in San Juan County has not yet been confirmed, but is estimated to include: Between $373,000 and $431,000 for his typical 2024 SRFB-funded project. $1,033,444 for 2025-2027 Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration (PSAR)-funded projects. and $485,592 in new special riparian funds.
The project must be located in the San Juan Islands and its adjacent waters. Projects funded to date include high-priority shoreline land acquisition and conservation easements, removal of shoreline armoring that impacts coastal habitats, and freshwater habitat restoration projects. I am.
A one-page “Statement of Intent” will be sent to the San Juan County Department of Environmental Management via email at samw@sanjuancountywa.gov.
