In the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia, the Regional Foundation of North Florida (CFNF) activated its Disaster Relief Fund and received a $350,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation to provide disaster relief to Madison and Taylor Counties.
CFNF also receives donations from other community foundations and individuals to support its efforts to assist those most affected by the hurricane.
CFNF’s approach to relief efforts in Madison County is rooted in leadership support from State Representative Alison Tant and direct engagement with community leaders, emergency management, and Madison County’s FEMA volunteer liaisons.
This hands-on approach has provided CFNF with insight into the unique challenges faced by Madison County residents.
In partnership with the Madison County Strong Long-Term Recovery Group, a newly formed organization dedicated to community resiliency, CFNF will provide customized financial relief assistance. This strategic partnership ensures that assistance is responsive to the identified and evolving needs of Madison County.
For Taylor County, CFNF has received leadership support from State Sen. Cory Simon (R-Tallahassee) and has been working with several community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and FEMA volunteer liaisons.
CFNF will work with long-term recovery groups that residents are working to establish. Short-term relief assistance provided to Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) of North Central Florida. BGC received a $38,000 grant to repair fencing damage in four locations and to repair shade structures in areas where natural shade was lost due to the destruction of trees on the property.
