Clarion, Pennsylvania – Walmart celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated supercenter at 63 Perkins Road in Clarion on Friday.
The celebration was part of Walmart’s largest one-day grand reopening in history.
The Clarion store is part of a major reopening celebration that represents more than $500 million in capital investments in communities across 30 states.
Walmart employees celebrated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration. The event was attended by local nonprofit organizations and Walmart employees who worked at the store when it first opened in 1997.
Over the past two years, Walmart has invested approximately $9 billion to upgrade more than 1,400 stores across the United States.Store reopening is part of Walmart Signing experience, we aim to inspire our customers and provide them with a seamless and high-quality shopping experience. Upgraded features include improved layouts, expanded product selection, and innovative technologies that help Walmart associates better assist customers and make shopping more convenient and enjoyable.
At Friday morning’s celebration, Clarion Walmart store manager Rodney Cichelski highlighted the store’s transformation and new interactive features now available to customers, including:
- We’ve expanded our grocery pickup and delivery to give customers a quick and convenient way to pick up their orders.
- New signage for store navigation to make in-store shopping and using the Walmart app easier.
- In addition to the existing checkout lanes, we have added 15 new self-checkout lanes.
- The department was reorganized to expand its product lineup, including apparel, electronics, toys, and sporting goods.
- The pharmacy and vision center have been upgraded.
- Updated restrooms, a new family restroom, and a new mother’s room provide a clean, comfortable, and private option for nursing mothers.
Rodney Ciecierski was one of the first employees to open the store in 1997. He started at Walmart as an hourly employee and was promoted to Clarion Store Manager.
“Our employees are excited about these changes and the ability to serve more customers than ever through online pickup,” said Clarion Store Manager Rodney Cichelski. “These upgrades are an investment by Walmart to ensure Clarion County families have a convenient and welcoming place to shop, and we can’t wait to welcome you to our stores.”
To strengthen Walmart’s commitment to the communities it serves, store managers will make presentations such as: $16,400 Grants to local nonprofit organizations including:

Clarion’s transformation of Walmart is part of Walmart’s Signature Experience, which aims to inspire customers and enhance their in-store experience. Clarion Walmart Supercenter upgrades include:
- Activated corner: Inspiring displays are installed in the corners of certain departments to draw customers in and allow them to touch, feel and become a part of the space, allowing them to discover everything Walmart has to offer. That’s what I’m trying to do.
