At events in Radcliffe, Vine Grove and West Point, families dress up in costume and participate in trunk-or-treat events to collect candy.
The first is an event at Veterans Park in West Point on Friday at 6 p.m. West Point Mayor Richard Silesi said 20 to 25 booths will be set up to hand out candy to children.
On Sunday, the annual Radcliffe Fright Night returns from 5 to 7 p.m.
However, Tim Jeffries, director of Radcliffe’s Parks and Recreation Department, said the event’s location has been changed this year due to the possibility of inclement weather.
It will be held inside a former furniture liquidation store at 960 N. Dixie Blvd., a building owned by the city.
Last year, the event was moved to the Colvin Community Center due to weather, but the decision was made because the venue was too small, Jeffries said.
The event will feature a DJ, face painting, haunted house, pumpkin carving contest, food trucks and more.
Jeffries said about 35 different trunks were handing out candy last year. If you would like to participate this year, you can set up for free when the museum opens at 4 p.m.
Each person is provided with a table and chairs to decorate in place of the trunk of their car, and sweets are also distributed.
āBeing able to put in more trunks to keep the little kids happy, thatās what weāre looking for,ā he said.
Pumpkins entered in the contest, whether carved or painted, must be donated to the community center by Friday at 4:30 p.m.
āWe just want everyone to come out,ā he said.
Vine Grove City Clerk Jessica Irwin said the city’s trunk-or-treat event will be held at Vine Grove Optimist Park on Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
He said about 14 businesses and organizations are handing out candy at the event, but the city’s police department, fire department and government employees are not included.
This event was originally born in 2020 as a parade in which the city’s fire trucks drive through the city and deliver sweets to children.
Irwin said last year’s parade had a low turnout, so they decided to go in a different direction this year.
Irwin said “many people” have confirmed their participation in this year’s event.
Irwin said the event date will be announced on City Hall’s Facebook page if the event is held inside City Hall, taking weather forecasts into consideration.
āThis is just another opportunity to bring the community together,ā she said.
