Immanuel Christmas Bazaar: Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 Chester Pike, Norwood, invites all to the annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec 2 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Homemade Christmas cookies will be pre-packaged in small quantities, but still available for you to select the type you like for purchase by the pound. Homemade baked goods and sweets are available. Members have made a variety of fresh soups in mason jars ready to eat. Stromboli, ready to heat, can be taken home. Lunch will be available for purchase while you visit. Handmade crafts are available for your gift shopping. Check out our flea market tables for wonderful odds and ends, including some holiday décor. The annual Breakfast with Santa: at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 2545 Franklin Ave., Secane, is Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $8 per adult and $5 per child. Children 2 and under are free. There will be two seatings: 9 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to noon. Meet Santa, hear a Christmas story, make a Christmas craft and enjoy delicious food from the Breakfast Bar. Reservations are a must. Holy Myrrh-Bearers: Ukrainian Catholic Church, 900 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, announces the opening of its annual Christmas basket raffle. An abundance of beautifully prepared, themed raffle baskets (over 40 of them) will be on display in the church social hall. The baskets will be raffled off on Dec. 3 during the annual St Nicholas Dinner and winners need not be present to win. Tickets are $2 each/three for $5/eight for $10/and 17 for $20. This year there is a “big item” basket table and these chances are $5 each and five for $20. Big ticket items include a large flat screen television; over $100 in lottery tickets, Fit Bit watch and several other sought-after high value items. Tickets are available before and after the services on the weekend in the social hall and during the Wednesdays of our pierogie sale week and on all Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Holy Myrrh-Bearers: 900 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, will host Slavic Christmas/St. Nicholas Luncheon on Sunday, Dec. 3 at noon. Children under 10 are free, older kids are $10 and adults are $20, and advanced sales only by Nov. 30. Enjoy Slavic foods like pierogies, kielbasa, halushki etc. with chicken nuggets for the kids. There will be no takeout. There will also be a St Nick Basket at the dinner for new socks, gloves, hats, undergarments and thermals for the orphans in Ukraine. Bring something with you to share with those in need. Please provide the name and age of the child for St. Nick’s visit. Seating is limited and no tickets will be sold at the door. First United Methodist Church: 350 W. State St., Media, The church is home to the Media Food Bank which serves 75-100 families each week and is supported by individuals, area churches, and local businesses. The food bank is open Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m. The church also serves the community through its clothing closet which is open Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. The Transition Town Media Free Store is located at First United and serves as a place to donate used items and take (for free) items that can be used or repurposed. First Church offers free beginner yoga classes Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.

The Legion of Mary: is a Catholic organization of men and women, who work with the Blessed Mother and Holy Spirit to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, our savior, to the world in various locations and manners.
