Over the next month, Long Beach and Signal Hill will be a fun and festive venue for holiday events, including performances, toy drives, arts and crafts, and more.of signal tribune has assembled 10 events to kick off the holiday season, ranging from new craft workshops to decades-old traditions.
Signal Hill Police Station Toy Drive
Held at Target (950 E 33rd St.) on Nov. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Signal Hill Police Department will be accepting new unwrapped gifts for its annual toy drive. Residents are asked to bring toys valued at $10 or more. All donations will go to children in the Signal Hill area.
Gingerbread decoration workshop
Confidential Coffee (137 W Sixth St.) Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Local gingerbread artisan Isaac Salgado is hosting a four-week series teaching children how to decorate gingerbread houses and gingerbread men. The class will be taught by Mr. Salgado, dressed as Santa Claus, and there will be photo opportunities.
Tickets include decorative supplies, a gingerbread house, and each purchase grants admission to one accompanying adult. The recommended age for this class is 4 to 15 years old. His first two classes will be taught at Confidential Coffee and his last two classes will be taught at The Pie Bar. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
Long Beach annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony
November 28th from 4pm to 7pm at Long Beach Terrace Theater (300 E Ocean Blvd.)
Long Beach will light up the city’s tallest Christmas tree at the 9th annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. The event includes snowfall, fireworks, food trucks, train rides, live Santa Claus and Nutcracker performances, holiday music, and more.
Other performances include a brass choir, a cappella group SoCal Vocals, singer Terron Brooks, and the Lucky Devils Band. Participation in the event is free.
Signal Hill Christmas Tree Lighting
Nov. 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 2175 Cherry Ave.
Signal Hill welcomes the holiday season with the annual Christmas tree lighting outside City Hall. The event includes a visit from Santa Claus, arts and crafts activities for kids, festive treats, music, and more. This event is free to attend.
1st California Heights Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
November 30th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the corner of Orange Avenue and Bixby Road.
The first annual California Heights Tree Lighting Ceremony is hosted by F/8 Studio, 5th District Councilwoman Megan Kerr, the California Heights Neighborhood Association, and the Cal Heights Business District.
A 15-foot tall tree will be lit in the front yard of F/8 Studio, a snow play area will be set up, story time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, cookie decorating, mirror ball ornament making, coffee and hot chocolate, snacks and drinks will be available. provided. Movie “Polar Express” Screening
2nd and PCH (6400 Pacific Coast Highway) on Dec. 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Residents can grab their warmest blankets and comfiest lawn chairs and attend an evening screening of “The Polar Express” at 2nd and PCH. Weather permitting, the movie begins at sunset. Kids can enjoy a complimentary airbrush tattoo before the movie. Self-seating and heating are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs. Pets are allowed on a leash. This event is free to attend.
Belmont Shore Christmas Parade
December 2nd along Second Street from 6pm to 9pm.
The 39th annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade features floats, more than a dozen local marching bands, elves, Santa and more. Residents can view the festive fun as they travel along East Second Street and begin heading east from Livingston Avenue to Bayshore Avenue.
East Second Street will be closed to traffic at 5 p.m., allowing residents to set up chairs and blankets to watch the parade. Floats can win prizes based on theme execution, originality of design, and audience appeal. This event is free to attend.
Story time with Mrs. Claus
Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2nd and PCH (6400 Pacific Coast Highway)
Children ages 12 and under can enjoy story time, songs, and arts and crafts activities with Mr. Claus. This event is free to attend.
holiday jazz concert
December 8th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church (5450 E Atherton St.).
The Duck Soup Trio will perform music by pianist Vince Guaraldi, including the entirety of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and other memorable Guaraldi works. The public is encouraged to donate $20 and students are encouraged to donate $10. Children 12 and under are free.
Daisy Lane Christmas Parade
December 9th from 5pm to 7pm along Daisy Avenue in Long Beach
Long Beach’s longest-running Christmas parade is back with more festive appearances and performances. The festival begins at 5 p.m. at Daisy Avenue and West Burnett Street and continues south along the east side of Daisy Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway, where it wraps around the median, runs up the west side of Daisy Avenue, and continues south along the east side of Daisy Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway. – Ends near Barnet.Hill Street and Main Avenue around 7 p.m.
