PELA — The Central University track and field team, which won 13 of 14 running events, hosted the Dutch Holiday Preview on Saturday afternoon.
This year’s Holiday Preview for Holland was in conjunction with Truman State University, a Division 2 school in Missouri. No team score was recorded as Central won 19 of 28 games.
“Today’s game is a game to learn about our current situation,” said the coach. brandon starman Said. “We’ve been training since September, so no matter how many teams there are, we’re going to compete regardless. We were able to get a lot of work done and I’m happy with how we competed overall. .”
Three freshmen from Chuo University were crowned winners on Saturday. Lizzie Van Utrecht (Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School, Ottumwa)) won the women’s 300 meters (43.50 seconds), Gabe Feldman (Mount Pleasant) Winning the men’s 600 meters (1 minute 27.72 seconds) Ronan Jimenez (Warren High School Southeast, Liberty Center) He won the men’s 1000 meters (2 minutes 49.33 seconds).
“I’m excited for our new students,” Sturman said. “They made some marks to show us we are taking a step forward.”

“Kale’s jump was amazing,” Sturman said. “He’s currently in fourth place on the program’s top 10 list. He jumped 14.16 meters, and he had never jumped 14 meters before.”
Mary Gustason (sophomore, Marion, Linmar High School) She dominated the women’s sprint races, winning the 60-meter dash (8.06 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (27.17 seconds). jackson moats (Senior, Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley High School) They won the men’s race by a landslide in 7.16 seconds and 23.83 seconds, respectively.

Jorgenson sets 800 meter record – Another great fall semester Noah Jorgenson (Senior, Sydney), He set one of the program’s oldest records in the men’s 800 meters at the Iowa Holiday Invitational on Saturday.
Jorgenson finished sixth with a time of 1:51.25, breaking the record set in 1999.
“Noah finished his cross country season well and ran well last week,” Sturman said. “He felt so good that he wanted to run the 800 meters this week and also broke the school record.

“It’s an opportunity for them to race against fast competitors and find out where they are,” Sturman said. “We have accomplished some good things, but we know we still have work to do moving forward.”
Central will return to action on Friday, January 12th in the Cardinal opener, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
