This year, 2024, you will need minimal equipment to enjoy and watch the event. The most anticipated event will probably be the long-awaited total solar eclipse in April.
A solar eclipse is a phenomenon in which the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, completely blocking the sun’s view. The last solar eclipse was in 2017.
Although Montana will not be under a total solar eclipse, visibility will still be good between 40% and 60%.
The next total solar eclipse will occur in 2044. Fortunately, Montana State is fully in line for that path.

2024 will be one of the best years for Montana residents to see the Northern Lights, often referred to as the Northern Lights. The current solar cycle is about to reach its peak in 2024-2025 due to increased solar activity. This means more opportunities to see the Northern Lights in the Treasure State.
To see them, drive to an area that doesn’t have a lot of light pollution and look north, and you might catch a glimpse of the celestial event.
