A Cornwall estate has been given an extended closure order by Bodmin Magistrates Court to deal with anti-social behavior. The extension to the closure order was granted by the court on Wednesday February 21, with the aim of reducing anti-social behavior.
Local residents who have been negatively affected by anti-social behavior by tenants have welcomed the extension. There was a number of serious anti-social behaviors by residents of this address over an extended period of time. Anti-social behavior included various people coming and going throughout the day and night.
The original closure notice was granted following criminal and intelligence activity by a police team, including the execution of a drug warrant. Police teams also carried out patrols in the area.

Local residents affected by the occupiers have released statements explaining the impact the incident has had on them. The statement set out how neighbors felt about anti-social behavior, which helped secure a closure order for the premises.
A closure order for a facility means that no one is allowed to enter the facility for a certain period of time, and if anyone enters the facility during that time, they may be subject to jail time, fines, or both. After the closure, local residents told police how much of a positive change the closure had brought to the area.
The original closure order was nearing an end, but has now been extended to prevent the original tenant from re-occupying the property. The extension was granted to give the housing association time to take legal action against the tenant and regain full ownership of the property. Once this is complete, the property will likely be taken over and a new tenant will move in.
PC Andy Currie said: “We are working with our partners in Cornwall Council’s Anti-Social Behavior Enforcement Team, staff from the relevant housing associations and teams from Devon and Cornwall Police to secure an extension to this closure order. It was a real team effort.”
“We believe this closure order sends a very clear message to those considering similar behavior. Through our collaboration with our partner agencies, we believe this closure order sends a very clear message to those considering similar behavior. We will not tolerate rude and anti-social behavior.”
This closure extension comes shortly after Bodmin’s police team, working with partner agencies, secured a further closure order on January 30 for an address that had been causing significant nuisance and disorder for six years. .
