The Bonner General Health Volunteer Council is proud to present the BGH Volunteer Education Scholarship to three volunteers who have volunteered more than 50 hours per year in various departments over the past several years: Kendall Miller, Torin Hessle, and Heidi Hansch. Each will receive a $500 scholarship.
Kendall Miller graduated summa cum laude with two Bachelor of Science degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in upstate New York. She double majored in American Sign Language Interpreting and Biomedical Sciences. She hopes to attend the University of Washington School of Medicine. Miller is passionate about rural health care and supporting underserved communities.
Torin Hessle is a senior at Sandpoint High School who has been volunteering at Bonner General since his freshman year. He hopes to study biomedical engineering at Purdue University and then go on to medical school in pediatric care.
Heidi Hansch is a senior at Montana State University studying applied mathematics. During her volunteer work, she mentored several physicians at BGH and will be taking the medical school entrance exam at the end of August.
BGH officials said they are proud of the hospital's student volunteers and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
