BATESVILLE – Batesville Memorial Public Library will host the following special events and activities during the last two weeks of October.
October 14th 10am to 1pm – Community Shred Day – Free Shredding Event. Limited to 5 boxes. If the truck is full, we will leave before 1pm. Items accepted: Office paper. computer paper; copy paper; post-its; memo pads (no metal binding); magazines; newspapers; window envelopes. Manila folder, hanging file folder. Staples. Binder clips; Paper clips; Rubber bands. The truck will be located in the Batesville Memorial Public Library parking lot.
October 16th, 5:30pm – Evening Needle Felting – Our needle felting workshops will be taking a little detour over the next few months. Regular instructor Janet Padden will be absent. She will be holding free felting classes until she returns. She can use kits and materials to design objects of her choice. We have many experienced felt craftsmen at each session, so please feel free to come even if it’s your first time. Beginners are supported through entry-level projects.
October 16th 10am and 11am – Mother Goose Toddler Time for ages 0-3. Teacher Sarah will host her 30-minute sessions aimed at stimulating the learning process in babies and toddlers. Registration is not required.
October 16th to 18th, 6:30 to 8 p.m. – Moonwatching – To celebrate the moon night sightings – stop by the Batesville Memorial Public Library and peer through the telescopes set up on the outdoor lawn. Let’s. The telescope will be available for use every night from 6:30pm to 8pm.
October 17th 10am, 2pm, 6pm – Storytime for ages 3-6. Join Miss Sarah for her fun 45 minute session. Registration is not required.
October 17th 1:30pm or October 18th 6:30pm – A Novel Idea Book Club – A Novel Idea is BMPL’s book club. Join us each month to explore and discuss that month’s book. Former English teacher Steve Holland is our book guide. October’s selection is “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie. After registering, please inquire at the front desk.
October 17th, 6:30pm – Aging Care Series: Medicare Open Enrollment – Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15th to December 7th. What is open enrollment? What can you do during open enrollment? How can you improve your medication and health coverage? Because we understand how confusing it can be. , has partnered with State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) to provide people with free and unbiased presentations about Medicare. Please join us if you would like to learn more about the options. Registration is not required.
October 18th, 1pm – DIY STEM Elevator – Participants in grades 1-6 will be given a variety of resources to create their own DIY elevator. Register for this Batesville Memorial Public Library Homeschool Program at ebatesville.com/events.
October 19, 6:30pm – Moon Glow Walk – Join Bram Woods to celebrate moonlit viewing with a walk around a paved loop under the light of the moon. If the weather is nice, I plan to take out my telescope and look at the moon. This program is for all ages! In case of rain, this program will be canceled. Registration is not required.
October 19th, 1pm or 6:30pm – Scrapbooking for Adults – If you’ve never created a scrapbook layout, this session will introduce you to this fun hobby. Create a two-page spread using a variety of tools and techniques. Everything you need is provided and you can take your completed pages home and take photos. October 20th, 10am – Open Block Play – Join Sarah from the Activity Lab for a block play session. Your child can choose from several different styles of building blocks to play with. Come meet new friends and build with us. Registration is not required.

But broader and more fundamentally, it means sacrificing authenticity today in order to have more authenticity in the future. We’ll look at this and all the implications for the economy.
