An arrest has been made in one of two shootings at the Aiken Walmart Supercenter off Whiskey Road.
Brandon Perry Buckmon, 22, of Barnwell, South Carolina, has multiple warrants out for his arrest in connection with the Nov. 26 shooting, according to Lt. Jason Griffin of the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
According to a copy of the warrant provided by Griffin, Buckmon was involved in an armed robbery with another co-defendant, during which the victim was shot in the shoulder while sitting in a car. The victim required treatment at a local hospital.
Restaurant inspection:“Let’s hire a professional pest control operator,” the police inspector says at a restaurant in downtown Augusta.
Buckmon was arrested on unrelated charges on November 29 in Williston, South Carolina, about 35 miles southeast of Aiken. As of Friday, he was being held in the Orangeburg County Detention Center and is scheduled to be transferred to Aiken.
Charges in the Walmart incident include armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, unlawful possession of a pistol, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, and possession of a weapon during a crime of violence.
This is the second mass shooting at Walmart in less than six months. In June, a teenage girl was shot multiple times indoors. Stephen Christopher Foreman, 32, of Aiken, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the shooting.
The recent shootings are still under investigation and more arrests are expected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Aiken Department of Public Safety at (803) 642-7620 or submit an anonymous tip to CrimeTip City of Aiken.
