Hands-on art-making activities include includes a papier-mâché sugar skull workshop with artists Oscar Becerra Mora and Ruben Miguel Castillo Navarrete. Festival highlights include traditional face painting, a variety of food options, and food prepared by local artisans and vendors. It includes a vibrant Mercado Marketplace showcasing traditional and contemporary goods, jewelry, and Mexican arts and crafts. The Store, an artists’ co-op and gallery, is also open to mark the Day of the Dead. We will be selling themed items.

Grass Pumpkin Patch and Desert Foothills Book Festival
“Holland Community Center is excited to welcome back two popular events this weekend, October 20, 2023, the annual Grass Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser and the Desert Foothills Book Festival to welcome the fall season . More than 1,000 glass pumpkins handcrafted by acclaimed artisans are on display. Artist Gregory’s Grave is available for purchase, and the Glass Pumpkin Patch is open Friday through Sunday, October 20-22. Held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the book festival is held in partnership with the Desert Foothills Library and will feature approximately 70 award-winning books. Featuring local authors, the book festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
