In a viral video, TikToker Kisha (@kaotickisha) shared the reason why she was fired from Walmart, sparking a discussion among viewers.
Kisha begins the video by explaining that she was standing at the entrance of the store when the general manager told her to “get some spray and paper towels and clean the door.”
I remember her replying: That’s not my job description. ”
She said the manager repeated the same thing, but she remained adamant and said, “‘No, I wouldn’t do that.'” The manager then left, and a few minutes later another salesperson came with paper towels and spray, she said. With the same request. She says she said the same thing to the clerk that she said to the manager. That’s not my job. ”
Her patience paid off. Shortly after, she showed another employee cleaning the store’s doors. Kisha says of the scene: Can you see her? She got it, baby. ”
She continues, “But I’m not like that.”
She revealed that the reason she doesn’t like cleaning doors is because she has a bad back. “What do you want me to do when a 65-inch TV falls on her back?” she shared in the video’s caption.
@kaotickisha 65 inch TV fell on my back so what do you want me to do #jobfiredme #workshit #notmyjobsir #notmyproblem #kaotickisha ♬ Original song – Kisha kaos
Kisha’s refusal to wipe the door caused much discussion. The video has garnered her 630,000 views and thousands of comments. Viewers are divided on whether they feel her rebellion was justified.
Many said they felt she should have wiped down the door, whether it was work or not. “I understand, but sometimes you have to do what you’re told until you find a better way. Now, look, they let you go, but the bills still have to be paid. ” one person shared.
Other viewers suggested that she should have agreed to the mission and just bided her time. She “should have been cleaning windows all her shift,” said one. Another added: “I would have just said OK and started working…I didn’t say when.”
Some viewers said the injury was a valid reason for her not wanting to do the task, but argued that there could have been a better wording. One person suggested, “He should say he feels unsafe because of his back injury. That way he won’t be able to claim insubordination.” “It would have been better to say, ‘In my current state, I am limited in the tasks I can tolerate. Is there a way to reassign the tasks?'”
Others respected her defiant attitude and said, “I’m glad you’re in business. No means no.”
The Daily Dot reached out to Kisha and Walmart for comment via email.
