In order to drive users to the Apple TV app, Apple plans to remove the standalone “Apple TV” app that can be used to rent and purchase TV shows and movies. The movies and TV shows section of his iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad will also be discontinued.
Apple wants to drive customers to its TV app. The TV app already includes purchased movies and shows, content from Apple TV+, and third-party channels that customers can subscribe to.
The TV app will serve as a hub for streaming content, and Garman said the redesigned app will feature a side panel on the left side that can be used to navigate between different video categories.
