OKLAHOMA CITY — Another governor-appointed member of the Oklahoma State Board of Education has resigned.
Suzanne Reynolds served on the board for 10 months before announcing her resignation on Wednesday.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve on the board and work with parents, teachers, and community leaders to advance education in Oklahoma,” Reynolds said in his resignation letter. “I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together in addressing pressing issues and ensuring every child in Oklahoma has access to a world-class education.”
Governor Stitt said in a statement that Mr. Reynolds will be appointed to the Oklahoma University of Science and Arts Board of Trustees.
The seven-seat board was reduced by one member following the resignation of Trent Smith in May.
Reynolds, an Oklahoma City pharmacist, is part of a group of newly appointed board members, along with State Superintendent Ryan Walters, who said she will work with the governor’s office to ensure a smooth transition.
“Suzanne was a warrior for parents, a champion for students, and a dedicated advocate for education in Oklahoma,” Stitt said in a statement. “Suzanne has an unwavering dedication to improving our education system, and I have no doubt he will continue to serve parents and students across our state.”
