Amazon recently updated its popular voice assistant app Alexa for mobile devices. The latest update redesigns the home page and adds a ton of new features, making it easier for users to control their smart home devices.
Home page favorites
The updated app now allows users to customize the Favorites section of the homepage, giving them easy access to their most used devices and features. You can also quickly check your shopping, to-do list, and recently played music. Supported devices include plugs, switches, lights, locks, cameras, and more.
Redesigned Activities section
Amazon also appears to have redesigned the activity section, which now displays information such as timers, upcoming alarms, and reminders.
Customizable shortcut bar
You can now customize the shortcut bar at the top of your homepage to display information like shopping lists, routines, alarms, and more. You can also view connected devices, such as the number of lights on and the temperature of various rooms. This feature is still being rolled out, so it may take some time to appear on your devices.
Improved device section
The improved Devices section now allows users to search for devices by name and sort alphabetically, date added or device type. If you’re not interested in list view, you can also switch to map view. This replaces the existing “Groups” feature, but is currently available to a small number of users in the US.
