NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The popular county gardens recently completed upgrades for a more modern experience.
The more than 120,000 annual guests who visit Airlie Gardens, located at 300 Airlie Road, will receive enhanced services with the completion of the county’s new Guest Services Center. Improvements include upgrades to the ticket purchasing area and education center to provide easier access to the facility for visitors.
It will also provide additional office space and storage for the garden operations.
The project’s $682,000 in capital projects was raised through fundraisers held throughout the year, sponsored by the Airlie Gardens Foundation, a 501(c)3 that supports and preserves 67 acres of gardens.
“This project would not have been possible without the support of our Board of Directors, Airy members, and the visitors from around the world who continue to make this a must-see in New Hanover County,” said Tara, Parks and Gardens Director. – Duckworth said in a press release. .
