RED BLUFF — Tehama County will be hosting a number of events this weekend, from Halloween events to music contests.
The Western Open Fiddle Championship continues through Saturday at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, 355 Gilmore Road. A nostalgic gospel singalong begins Thursday at 7 p.m., with tentative competition days beginning after 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free. Contestants pay a participation fee for each category.
The event will feature fiddle, flatpick, and piano competitions, and will feature divisions for open and junior jukebox, waltz, swing fiddle, and Celtic divisions.
Another event in Red Bluff on Saturday is the family-friendly Kids Spooktacular. The Halloween event will be held at Red Bluff River Park at Red Bluff River Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 100 Main Street
There will be 30 trick-or-treating booths for young children, a food court corner, games and music, and a lively atmosphere, according to Northern California Child Development.
A costume contest is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the volleyball court area. There are many chances to win prizes.
NCCDI announced that as of Wednesday, approximately 624.95 pounds of candy and other treats had been donated to the event.
Finally, the 26th Annual Dailyville Orchard Festival in Los Molinos will be held at Lassen Elementary School (10818 Highway 99E) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The festival will feature local farmers markets, craft sales, food trucks, live music, a kids corner, cornhole and more. Admission and parking are free.
Not only is the festival a fun activity for the community, it also raises money for scholarships for local students.
Last year, the festival raised about $315,000.
