We’re excited to be part of a team that helps create a culture where everyone feels like they belong. Everyone feels a different sense of belonging, but listening and respecting everyone’s perspectives can lead to thoughtful change.
Earlier this year, we took a step toward making it possible for people with sensory disabilities to shop in our stores by taking steps to create a low-stimulation environment for a few hours every Saturday. During back-to-school season, we replaced the TV wall with still images, turned off the radio, and dimmed the lights whenever possible. Feedback from the pilot program was overwhelmingly positive. While these changes may have seemed small to some, they have transformed the shopping experience for others. Our biggest feedback? Keep it up!
In addition to Saturdays, all Walmart U.S. and Puerto Rico stores will reinstate sensory-friendly hours from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time every day starting November 10. There is no scheduled end date. . During this time, we hope that our store will be as easy on the eyes and ears as possible for our customers and employees. These changes are thanks to people who shared their feedback on how their stores helped them feel like they belonged.
We’ve seen what these changes mean for customers and employees through in-person conversations, emails, listening sessions, social media, and personal experience in our stores. And we continue to welcome feedback on how we can enhance these sensory-friendly measures in our stores. Our mission is to help families save money so they can live a better life, and we continue to take steps to deliver on that promise to everyone who walks through our doors. Masu.
