As Del Mar Horse Park returns to normal after its unexpected closure, the new operator of Del Mar Horse Park has announced that it will host dressage events throughout 2024.
The 65-acre racetrack, located about 2.4 miles east of the Del Mar Fairgrounds at the corner of El Camino Real and Via de la Valle in the San Dieguito River Valley, is closed due to drainage issues. It was suddenly closed in 2021. The venue was not eligible to reopen until a plan was developed that met Regional Water Quality Control Board standards.
The board of directors that operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which includes the horse park, has decided to lease the Del Mar Horse Park to an operating company that will be responsible for the upgrades. Special events company HITS LLC won the lease. Del Mar Horse Park’s grand opening took place earlier this year.
“It’s very exciting to see it come back,” said Olympic silver medalist, Grand Prix rider and trainer Sabine Schutkelly, who will compete in the Del Mar dressage competition next year. “Myself and my team really want to support that. We have some up-and-coming horses that we really want to show.”
Stuttkeli, from Germany, won a silver medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. She added that Delmar helped her develop the horses that led her to compete in the Olympics.
Next year’s event schedule begins February 1-4 and runs through October.
“We are excited to announce our plans for an exciting lineup of dressage shows in 2024, including the first CDI4* (International Dressage Competition) on the West Coast,” said Del Mar Horse Park General Manager Dale Harvey News. mentioned in. release. “The entire team at Del Mar Horse Park is excited to welcome dressage riders, horses and enthusiasts for next season.”
