Walmart celebrates Port Arthur renovation and outreach

Local nonprofits are celebrating increased funding, Mayor Thurman Barty is touting benefits to Port Arthur, and local shoppers are enjoying a host of new options.
These were some of the benefits celebrated Friday morning during a ribbon cutting at the newly renovated Walmart Supercenter at 8585 Memorial Blvd.
Walmart Academy Coordinator Samantha Tezeno emceed the event, followed by an opening prayer by Oliver Price, the national anthem by Rev. Kenneth Ray Bean Sr., Bertie, Store Manager Doug Savant, and Marketing. Manager Dana Durio gave a presentation.
Walmart presented three checks, including $3,500 to Bethel Temple of Deliverance, $500 to New Beginnings Ministries, and $2,000 to Rotary Holland.
Store leaders emphasized that the recent Port Arthur Supercenter renovation strengthens Walmart’s commitment to providing customers with a “seamless, high-quality shopping experience.”
In addition to check presentations, Coke, Pepsi, Kellogg’s, Little Debbie, General Mills and other vendors provided snacks, drinks and swag for customers to enjoy.
The complete store renovation includes:
- Improved apparel section with new brands like Reebok and Polo
- Upgraded navigation throughout the store
- New and upgraded coolers
- New digital menu board in deli area
- Expanding online pickup and delivery section
- new digital label
- new sign
