In early November, the Jaffrey Public Library, 38 Main St., will host two New Hampshire experts who will help you understand current events and make sense of the latest headlines.
At noon on Monday, Nov. 6, the library will host state climatologist Mary Stampone on Zoom for āConnecting the Dots: Climate Change and Extreme Weather.ā Participants will learn more about the relationship between climate and weather and how human-induced climate change is making some weather events more extreme.

In a Zoom talk for the library last year, Stampone talked about changing weather and its impact on the local ski and maple sugar industries. This year’s presentation will include a question and answer period regarding the effects of extreme weather events experienced this year.
On Nov. 8 at 6 p.m., Franklin Pierce University Professor Frank Cohen will be speaking directly at the library to help our people understand the latest news in Israel with his program, “Hamas-Israel War: What Happens If Hamas Wins?” He will appear again on a program that helps people do what they do. ? ā Cohen explains how history, political science, and economics can help people speculate and hypothesize about Hamas’ victory.
Cohen gave a talk about the Ukraine war at the library in 2022. He is an associate professor of political science at Franklin Pierce University, where he has served on the faculty since 1998. He teaches classes in U.S. government, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, constitutional law, and social science research methodology.
