LANCASTER, Texas — Hundreds of employees are still working at the Walmart distribution center in Fort Worth. The retail giant hopes these employees will choose to fill up to 500 jobs at the new location.
What was once just a rural area in Lancaster, Texas, has been transformed in a matter of months into a massive construction site and now home to advanced retail technology.
This is also where Walmart made an offer to its employees that seemed hard to refuse. The retail chain recently opened a Lancaster facility with 500 employees. However, there are 500 additional positions available at this location.
The incentive for employees to transfer from the Fort Worth location to the Lancaster location is a one-time bonus of $7,500 and training on new automation. Additionally, the starting pay for new employees is $21.15 per hour, which is approximately $21.15 higher than starting pay at other locations. $1.15.
Inside distribution centers, employees use brand-new automation to process and ship millions of products to customers every day. But Walmart needs more practice in Lancaster.
“Our new Lancaster facility prioritizes employee comfort and provides our employees with an exciting opportunity to work in a newly designed work environment that utilizes cutting-edge technology,” Walmart spokeswoman Ann Hatfield said in a statement. We will provide it.”
It’s a technology the retailer hopes will help attract its 300-plus employees to commute roughly 50 miles to work each day.
