Lafayette, LA (KADN) Two events were held in the central city on Monday, despite cold weather and rain throughout the day. The Lafayette Police Department held its annual Trunk-or-Treat and residents went to Girard Park to celebrate Halloween. Also in Lafayette, 50 golfers competed in the Lafayette Rotary South Golf Tournament.
“It depends on the weather, no, it doesn’t depend on the weather. It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s humid, it’s not the best weather today, but people are coming out. But we’re here in droves and we’re doing our best.” It’s out. Everybody knows it. There’s a cause and they’re here to support us,” James Boustany said.
Monday marked the 19th year the golf event has been held at Oakbourn Country Club in Lafayette. According to Marie Collins of the Lafayette Family Tree nonprofit, half of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the services provided by the nonprofit each time the event is held.
“With respect to Genealogy, we are a nonprofit and will use the funds in a variety of ways, particularly to enable us to continue providing affordable, low-cost consumption services.”Marie Collins he said.
Collins said he had some concerns about the event’s attendance after looking at the weekend weather forecast on Monday, which called for strong winds and light rain throughout the day.
“Compared to yesterday’s 90-degree temperatures, today is a surprisingly cold and rainy day. Golfers will play in any weather unless there’s lightning, so this is actually that bad.” That’s not the case,” Collins said.
