Now more than ever, people want to save money. One way to do this is to use coupons.
However, it will be more difficult to use coupons at Walmart. Back in September, Walmart changed its coupon policy.
If you’re an avid couponer, you probably won’t save as much money at Walmart as you would with coupons.
Here’s why:
Walmart currently follows many large retailers when it comes to coupons. According to Coupon News, Walmart has made three major changes to its coupon policy.
1. Elimination of excess
Walmart’s new coupon policy states, “If the value of the coupon is greater than the purchase price of the item (including WIC and SNAP), Walmart will not provide cash back and no overage fees will be applied to the remaining items in the transaction.” has been done.
This means that the coupon will be applied to the product price, and if the coupon exceeds the product price, the excess will not be applied to the total transaction amount.
2. Limits on like coupons
“Limit 4 identical coupons per household per day (unless otherwise stated on the coupon). There is no limit to the number of coupons (types) that can be used in a total transaction.”
For example, let’s say you have 5 coupons for a bottle of bleach. He can purchase 5 bottles of Bleach and use the coupon, but he cannot use all 5 coupons at the same time. You can use up to 4 of the same coupon, but any more than 4 coupons will be invalid. You have to put back the 5th bottle of bleach or pay full price.
3. No mover override in register
Coupons cannot be used if they are not scanned at the register. Walmart does not accept coupons. The person checking you out or the person at the self-checkout will not void your coupon.
“The coupon must be scanned at the register as the coupon’s GS1 must be validated against Walmart’s master file.”
Saving money just got harder at Walmart. Walmart isn’t saying you can’t use coupons, it’s just suspending certain uses. Maybe Walmart just stopped using the extreme couponing that was causing them losses.
