The Corning Irish Heritage Center held a successful “Return to Irish Roots” event in September. More than 150 people attended, including some from as far away as Tennessee.
The organization also hosted the Indiana Historical Society’s exhibit on Indiana’s auto manufacturing history over the years. Your membership has been updated. Others still have time to send their $20 membership fee, phone number and email to PO Box 282, Montgomery, IN, 47558, or contact the event treasurer. Donations help us continue to host events and maintain the center’s buildings.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., the Historic Cemetery Walk will begin at 5 p.m., for those who prefer to go in the light. In a small group, enjoy a historic walk through St. Patrick’s Cemetery, located next to the center. Local actors play the roles of ancestors at various locations within the cemetery. A bonfire will also be held inside the center on the same night. Kramer’s Connie sauce hot dogs, marshmallows, Fritos, coffee, tea, and hot his chocolate drinks. All events are supported by freewill donations.
Corning volunteers will also be participating in the Davis County Christmas Parade in Washington on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help assemble the small floats before the parade and help pedestrians walk with the floats. Every walker will be handing out candy and his 2024 event list. If you are able to volunteer, please contact a board member or email Regina Kahle at regina62lucky@gmail.com.
