BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Brownwood Police Department investigated a threat at Walmart Saturday night.
According to a press release sent to Brownwood Communications, Brownwood Communications received a call at 9:15 p.m. Saturday from a man who had made threats against Walmart employees and customers. brownwood news.
The Brownwood Police Department released the following statement just before 10 p.m.
“Approximately 30 minutes ago, we received a 911 call that someone was making threats of violence at Walmart. Officer Weaver responded, we met with employees, and are currently searching the building to make sure everything is safe.” We are confirming that this is the case. We will remain closed until we are sure that everyone is safe.”
An employee at a hardware store nearby said police advised the hardware store to lock down the store while they investigated.
Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Early Police Department, State Park Police, Brownwood Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance Service responded to the threat. Crews evacuated the building and conducted a thorough search.
The inspection was completed around 1 a.m. and no hazardous materials were found. There are no signs of a potential threat at this time. The Brownwood Police Department would like to thank the community for their cooperation and patience and encourage residents to report any suspicious activity.
