Customers at Walmart in Louisiana may be in for a shock when they try to check out. Walmart is cracking down on certain customers. As of 2023, there are 124 Walmart stores in New York State, according to WalmartNearby.com.
For coupon users, Coupons in the News reports that Walmart recently changed its policy after leaving it in place for six years. The policy change took place on September 24, 2023.
The most notable change is the elimination of overage fees. Walmart was one of the dwindling number of retailers that honored the full value of coupons, regardless of the item’s actual price. So if your coupon is worth more than the product you used, you’ll either receive cashback or have the difference applied to your transaction.
No more. The new policy states, “If the value of the coupon is greater than the purchase price of the item, Walmart will not provide cash back and no overage fees will be applied to the remaining items in the transaction.” To make matters worse, there is also a new limit of 4 identical coupons per household per day.
Here are some of the other updated policies:
- Digital coupons on a customer’s mobile phone will not be accepted.
- Coupons that have expired will not be accepted
- Items must match in size, brand, quantity, color, etc. If they do not match, the coupon will not be accepted.
- Only one manufacturer coupon can be accepted per product.
- Coupon must be scanned at the register
