WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester State University went into lockdown early Saturday morning and all university events were canceled.
The university issued an alert at 2:49 a.m., notifying all buildings that a shelter-in-place order was in place and awaiting further updates.
The university then issued a notice around 5:15 a.m. to continue sheltering in place. They also said there was “no imminent threat to the campus.” Please check your email for details and information. ”
Worcester State University also posted on its website asking anyone with knowledge, videos or images about the Wassileen area to come forward to WSU staff in the Sheehan Multipurpose Room and to WSUPD.
The memo also informed the community that counseling resources are available. The latest information does not mention what prompted the shelter-in-place order.
The school posted another update just before 7:30 a.m., announcing that “due to an ongoing incident, the university will be closed on Saturday.” All university events on and off campus are cancelled. ”
He did not say whether shelter-in-place orders are still in place.
This weekend was Worcester State University’s Homecoming Week.
