Temecula, California — The newly renovated Walmart Supercenter in Temecula was unveiled Friday morning with much fanfare and attendance, including local U.S. and state legislators and Temecula government officials. .
At the celebratory ribbon cutting for the store, located at 32225 Temecula Parkway, were Temecula Mayor Zach Schwank, U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert, U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, U.S. Rep. It was quite a turnout for a renovation celebration, but the supercenter manager said it was because of Walmart’s 20 years of presence in Temecula.
“This renovation is truly special for our supercenter, as it coincides with our 20th anniversary of serving Temecula, and is in line with other renovations taking place across the state,” said Supercenter Manager Lee Malabrigo. “This investment from Walmart reinforces our continued dedication to our region.” . “We look forward to welcoming our customers back to our transformed space for a better and more efficient shopping experience.”
Walmart’s contribution to the local tax base may also be a reason why so many local dignitaries attended the ribbon cutting. The supercenter consistently ranks among the top sales tax payers in Temecula, according to city documents.
The new renovation includes an eye-catching mural highlighting the local character of the Temecula community. It’s part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program, billed as the largest public art installation celebrating communities across the country. The Temecula store’s mural features an artist’s depiction of the entrance to Old Town Temecula.
During Friday’s event, the supercenter also presented $12,500 in grants to local nonprofit organizations, including:
- $4,000 to the Temecula Rotary Club.
- $1,500 to the Riverside Police Officers Association.
- Donated $2,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Counties.
- $2,500 to Temecula Valley High School;
- Donated $2,000 to Temecula Children’s Music Foundation
