The New Orleans Recreation Authority Board invites families to celebrate Halloween this week. This is his second year at NORD’s Haunted House on the Lafitte Greenway and its first Monster Mile Walk and Run. Some rec centers also offer trick-or-treating. The haunted house will be open at the Brake Tag Station, 600 N. Norman C. on Friday, October 27th, Saturday, October 28th, and Tuesday, October 31st from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Francis Parkway. Costumes are encouraged and the haunted house experience is free and open to all ages. The first Monster Mile Walk & Run is for ages 5-17 and will be held at Lafitte on Saturday, October 28th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Greening. The event begins and ends at the Brake Tag Station, 600 N. Norman C. Francis Parkway, with a celebration for all participants immediately following. All participants must register by visiting www.nordc.org. Participants will receive a free T-shirt and treat bag. The annual NORD Spooktacular event features spooky decorations, treats from community partners, and trick-or-treat candy for youth at the following NORD locations: • Cut Off Park – 6600 Belgrade Street in West Bank • Joe W. Brown Park – 5601 Read Boulevard. East New Orleans •Lafitte Greenway – 2200 Lafitte Ave. Costumes encouraged. In addition to the Spooktacular event, all NORD recreation centers will be handing out trick-or-treat candy to neighborhood youth. All activities are free and open to the public and will be held from 6pm to 9pm on Halloween night.
