STEUBENVILLE — The Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is busy making plans for several upcoming community events.
Throughout October, the association has been collecting new socks in all sizes and styles. All donations will go to Martha Manor Women’s Home and Friendship Room. She will be accepting socks donations until Nov. 5 and can be dropped off at the church, located at 300 S. Third St.
Association officials said the group’s monthly meeting will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Social Hall. Dinner will also be served that evening.
The church’s monthly gyro sale is approaching once again.
Officials announced that the association will be selling the following items at the church on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gyros will be sold for $9 each. Grape leaves, $3.50 for three. Baklava, $3. Tiropita, $3.50. Melamakarona, $2.50. Almond crescent cookies, $2. And Kouroulakia is $8 for a dozen. To order, call (740) 282-9835. Fax orders are available by dialing in at (740) 282-2091.
All orders take at least 20 minutes. Organizers say if you order four or more gyros, free shipping will be available only to businesses and parishioners.
Preparations are underway for the Veterans Day Luncheon, which will be held at noon Nov. 9 at Hellenic Hall, 300 S. Fourth St. Organizers say the event is free and honors veterans from all areas. Officials are asking people to RSVP by Nov. 3 by calling the church at (740) 282-9835.
The Philoptochos Society will welcome Grammy Pammy’s Sweetly to the church on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. This is a cookie decorating class where participants will learn how to decorate gorgeous cookies for Christmas, officials said. Class participants will learn step-by-step how to decorate “an adorable set designed by 6B Creations.”
The cost is $55 per person. Participants will be given step-by-step practice and cookie decorating instructions. 6 cookies with coordinated royal icing and decorations. Cookie and icing tips and techniques. Draw a picture as a class. We also have a cookie box where you can take your creations home.

The Greek Company Orchestra will perform live. Officials are inviting all area residents to “come out and enjoy the Greek dance.”
Advance tickets cost $25. Tickets will be sold at the door for $35. There is also a cash bar and mezedes. We welcome participation from all age groups.
