detroit – There are also residents over there. detroit This season, we are increasing our efforts to ensure Angels Night and Trunk-or-Treat events are safe.
On a cloudy Wednesday (October 25) morning, a large group of volunteers gathered in downtown Old Redford.
They came together to help prepare and clean up the community’s upcoming holiday activities at Artist Village.
John George, CEO of Detroit Bright Busters, said:
Nearly 100 students from the University of Detroit participated and helped teams from the Detroit Bright Busters clean up spaces and clean up parts of downtown.
“We believe our children, all children, have the right to grow up in a clean, respectful, safe and beautiful community,” George said.
Over the next few days, a team of workers and volunteers will be joining neighbors around downtown Old Redford to do a little bit more.
They will be removing trash and debris and patrolling the community to ensure the safety of events leading up to Angels Night and Halloween.
“As you know, in the 80s, over 810 fires broke out during the three days known at the time as the Devil’s Night,” George said. “That is completely unacceptable.”
Although the fire has been extinguished for many years, George said community-based efforts to keep the environment safe continue.
“Not only do we continue in the spirit of coming together to patrol and protect Detroit, but it’s also a time to celebrate all the positive things happening right now,” George said.
Detroit Bright Busters will host an Angel’s Night Dinner at Artist Village in downtown Old Redford on Sunday (October 29) at 5 p.m.
The organization said it may still hire some volunteers before the event. For more information, call Detroit Blight Busters at 313-255-4355.
