Madison police arrested a teenage employee at a Far East Side Walmart Sunday night for allegedly having a loaded gun in his backpack, authorities said.
Police spokeswoman Stephanie Fryer said a witness told the store manager that a group of teenage employees were in the restroom when they heard the sound of a gun slide going off. When police arrived at the Walmart in the 4100 block of Nacoosa Trail just before 10 p.m., they found a gun with part of the serial number scratched off from a 16-year-old boy’s backpack, Fryer said.
The boy is tentatively charged with possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, Fryer said.
