People-driven, technology-driven. That’s what Walmart Global Tech does every day, helping people save money and live better lives. And it’s not just for customers. A better life is also the company’s goal for its employees.
With 2.1 million employees around the world, Walmart employees have a truly global impact. Working at Walmart Global Tech means you have the opportunity to change the lives of millions of customers and employees through innovation. And that innovation is only possible when all employees know they are valued and, most importantly, feel like they belong.
One of the ways Walmart brings a sense of belonging to life is through Associate Resource Groups, where employees find opportunities to connect, learn and advance their careers. The Women in Tech group was co-founded by Amitha Krishnappa, Walmart’s senior director of business operations and analytics, and is a chapter of the Women’s Resource Community Associates Resource Group.
“We’re passionate. We’re in this together. Joining groups like this allows you to connect with people you wouldn’t meet in your regular work life. You discuss important topics and issues, and we’re all in this together.” “We find solutions that we might not have thought of before,” she said.

“The first thing these groups do is provide a sense of belonging. We connect within Walmart with other people who have similar backgrounds and passions as us. We connect across different departments within the company. If you want to build, you need intentional relationship-building, and these grassroots resource groups not only help you do that, they also help shape and realize solutions that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. ”
Walmart has a variety of groups that encourage membership, including the Asia Pacific Association Network and PRIDE Group.
Walmart also works with outside groups to create new opportunities for its employees.
“We go to the Grace Hopper Celebration and other ‘Women of Color’ conferences, where there are a lot of women engineers from different backgrounds,” Amisa said.
With thousands of technologists, front-end and back-end engineers, data scientists and data engineers working at Walmart, there’s no shortage of opportunities to build your career, no matter where you start or where you want to go. Walmart’s size and business, combined with our culture of growth and belonging, create opportunities like no other.
“You can work on almost any business problem and feel like you’re making an impact on the world. You might be in the supply chain, you might be looking at e-commerce. Or maybe you’re looking at technology from that perspective in your store: How can you improve the customer or employee experience? We deliver solutions that impact our customers.”
What makes that possible? A culture where all ideas are considered, employees know they’re valued, and everyone feels like they belong. Ready to start your Walmart journey? Visit wmtcareers.com/GlobalTechCareers to learn more.
