This year Halloween will be on Tuesday. Some communities may hold trick-or-treating hours on weekends. As the holidays approach, check back to see what your town is doing.
If you go door-to-door, dress appropriately, carry a flashlight, and only visit homes in your neighborhood that have lights on. Although most COVID-19 precautions have been lifted, the virus is still present. Wear cloth masks instead of costume masks, reduce physical contact between people as much as possible, hand out candy in small bags etc. with minimal or no contact, and wash your hands frequently. There is no problem in doing so.
Below is a list of towns that hold trick-or-treat hours on Halloween unless otherwise noted. Those towns marked with a cross has not been confirmed. Towns marked with an asterisk are at the same time each year.
If your town is not listed and you know the opening hours, please let us know at info@iberkshires.com.

Halloween safety tips from the State Fire Marshal’s Office:
* Remind young people to cross at crosswalks and corners, and to avoid jumping between parked cars. More children are hit by cars on Halloween than on any other day.
* Children must carry a flashlight or psyllium. The costume should be brightly colored or have reflective tape to highlight it.
*Make sure all parts of the costume are labeled as flame retardant.
*The costume must not have long material or tails that could cause it to fall.
*If your child is wearing a mask without makeup, please be careful that the eye holes are large and visible.
* Make sure the inside and outside of your home are well lit and there is a clear path to the door.
* Use a small flashlight or battery-powered tealight on the pumpkin instead of candles.
* Keep decorative items such as corn stalks and leaves away from heat sources and lit candles.
*Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It’s best to bring small children early. If your older children are going out without you, check the ground rules first and set a curfew. Travel in a group and ask them to bring cell phones and flashlights.
*Fireworks are dangerous and illegal in Massachusetts. The ban includes firecrackers, cherry bombs and party poppers.
