New Orleans Recreation Development Holds Annual Halloween Event for Youth and Families
This is the second year NORD has hosted a haunted house on Lafitte Greenway. The Haunted House will be on his next three days, Friday, Oct. 27, Saturday, Oct. 28, and Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Brake Tag Station (600 N. Norman C. Francis Parkway) It will open at . Costumes are encouraged, and the haunted house experience is free and open to all ages.
The 1st Annual Monster Mile Walk & Run is for ages 5-17 and will be held at the Lafitte Greenway on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The 1 mile walk/run will begin and end at the Brake Tag Station and will be immediately followed by a celebration for all participants.All participants must visit and register www.nordc.org. Participants will receive a free T-shirt and treat bag.
NORD’s annual Spooktacular event features spooky and whimsical decorations, merchandise from community partners, and trick-or-treat candy for youth at the following NORD stores:
- Cutoff Park, 6600 Belgrade Street, West Bank
- Joe W. Brown Park, 5601 Read Blvd. in East New Orleans
- Lafitte Greenway, 2200 Lafitte Ave.
Costumes are also encouraged. In addition to the Spooktacular event, all NORD recreation centers will be handing out trick-or-treat candy to neighborhood youth. All activities are free and open to the public and will be held from 6pm to 9pm on Halloween night.
