This season, Broward Performing Arts Center and The Parker are rolling out the red carpet for young theater lovers with two engaging series: JM Family Enterprises’ Smart Stage Matinee Series and Saturday Family Fun Series.
Designed to enhance classroom learning and open up the world of live performing arts, these series feature captivating performances ranging from whimsical fairy tales to enchanting musicals. The Smart Stage Matinee series is compliant with state standards and caters to both traditional and home-schooled students, with free study guides available on his website at his Broward center .
The features of the lineup are as follows.
- November 3rd: numbers don’t lie – A magical journey that reveals the importance of mathematics in everyday life. Tailored for 2nd grade through his 4th grade.
- November 8th and 11th: The story of custard the dragon – A heartwarming story focused on courage and love. Commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., it was designed for kindergarteners and their first grade participants.
- December 2: Christmas carol – Performance Project students and their mentors bring a classic holiday story to life.
- December 15th: nutcracker – Florida Arts Ballet Theater presents a rare ballet directed by Vladimir Isaev in Parker.
- January 12th and 13th: frog prince – A captivating fairy tale with a powerful message about equality and appearance.
- April 19th and 20th: Junie B. Jones – Join the adventures of first grader Junie, based on the popular series by Barbara Park.
