To make it easier and more affordable for students to attend college, the Minnesota Department of Higher Education is promoting a two-pronged statewide information campaign this month called “Minnesota Goes to College!” doing.
College Knowledge Month: Campus Visit, Free Application
The first part is the annual College Knowledge Month. The goal of College Knowledge Month is to provide all graduating high school seniors with the preparation, opportunity, and support they need to prepare for college.
Schools across the state are encouraged to help students explore college opportunities and begin making active plans. The College Knowledge Month website provides useful links that students can use to create their college list, search for college fairs, write their essays, and more.
During October, students can benefit from tuition fee waiver. All 33 of his schools in the Minnesota system will waive enrollment fees for the month. Learn more about.
Many campuses also host special events during the Minnesota Educators Academy (MEA) holiday period, October 19-20, but campus visits can be arranged at other times by contacting the school. Masu.
University of Minnesota Goals: Apply for financial aid
The second protrusion is called the Minnesota College Goal. This is a state initiative to help graduating high school seniors and their families understand how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Minnesota College Goal is hosting an informational series called Ready, Set, FAFSA Virtual College Planning Events. These are free virtual events hosted by financial aid experts to help students and families understand their college financial aid options.

Sessions are approximately one hour long and include a short presentation and question and answer session about financial aid. Spanish, Hmong, and Somali interpreters are on-site. Added bonus: Students who attend any session will be entered into a drawing for a $500 scholarship.
For those unable to attend, sessions will be recorded and available for viewing on the MN Goes to College website. Two of his sessions are already in session: “Applying to College” and “Understanding Financial Aid.” Upcoming sessions are Creating Her FSA ID on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., and Finding Scholarships on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Families are also encouraged to research and find additional scholarship opportunities if possible. One notable opportunity is that Minnesota will be offering a new North Star Promise Scholarship program that will make tuition and fees free for eligible Minnesota residents starting in fall 2024.
