Sorority members appear at autograph session
New Palestine ā Kathy Jutte, a member of the Upsilon Chapter of Psi Iota Si, has published her first book.
Jutte and the Upsilon Chapter will hold a book signing at the Sugarcreek branch of the Hancock County Public Library on Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Jutte’s book, titled “And We’re Testing Your Son for Down Syndrome: A Journey from Diagnosis to Joyful Living,” documents her experiences as a mother of a child with special needs. doing.
From the moment she heard the doctor’s casual words, Jutte’s life was faced with the reality of giving birth to a child with special needs. This is the story of her family, whose son Matthew was born with Down syndrome.
The fact that Ms. Jutte is a special education teacher did not prepare her for the challenges her family would face, nor the joy that exists alongside them.
Matt’s story reveals the unique challenges of Down syndrome and the treasures it brings to relationships, work, dating, and more. Readers will learn how Matt taught those around him to see through the eyes of unconditional love. The book also provides references and resources for readers.
A native of Indiana, Jutte is a graduate of Dunkirk High School and Ball State University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She also earned a degree in K-12 special education. She taught for 35 years in Ohio and after teaching for 37 years she retired. Her dream is to write a book about raising children and young people with Down syndrome, and her passion is to help parents live happy lives despite being diagnosed with Down syndrome.
