Bentonville, AR, Minneapolis, MN, October 17, 2023 — General Mills, Walmart and Sam’s Club today announced a collaboration to accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture on 600,000 acres in the United States by 2030. This represents the approximate number of acres General Mills engages in sourcing key ingredients for the products it sells at and through Walmart. Sam’s Club. The initial project will be supported through grants administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and will aim to advance regenerative agriculture outcomes in a variety of crops, including wheat, in the Northern and Southern Great Plains.

Through this program, NFWF provides financial support to local funding organizations to build the education and coaching resources needed to accelerate regenerative agriculture. The purpose is twofold. By supporting the transition to regenerative agricultural production in the United States through systems changes and by working to improve soil health, watersheds, biodiversity, climate change, and farmers’ economic resiliency. is to increase the likelihood of obtaining a more resilient yield.
