MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Trick-or-treating is in full swing at the end of the month in downtown Murfreesboro. Halloween this year falls on Tuesday, October 31st, and parents are encouraged to bring their little ghosts and goblins to the historic Rutherford County Square. The festival begins at 3pm and ends at 5pm.
Locally owned small businesses will be handing out bags of candy, Main Street Murfreesboro reports. As in past years, handfuls of candy will be given to children while supplies last. WGNS was told that some stores may be open late for special sales and events. Murfreesboro Police will close off traffic to the plaza during the event due to expected crowds. Therefore, we recommend arriving early.
For the past 38 years, Main Street Murfreesboro 501c3, a nonprofit organization, has focused on economic development, design, and promotion of the historic downtown business district. The organization hosts several events downtown to draw tourists and area residents to the historic downtown business district.
