Looking for indoor fun? Jackson has several exhibits for kids and adults to enjoy.
- “Mississippi's Flag: A Coat of Arms Through the Ages” is a limited-time exhibit at two Mississippi State Museums. The exhibit showcases Mississippi's history through 20 state flags, including the original Magnolia Flag sewn in 1861. The exhibit opened in March and will run through November 8. Admission is free on Sundays.
- “What Happened to Dr. Smith” opened at the Mississippi Museum of Art in April and will run through Sept. 22. The exhibit is a collection of paintings, photographs and writings by Mississippi native Noah Satterstrom, the result of years of research into solving the mystery of his great-grandfather's disappearance.
- If you're looking for ways to keep the kids occupied over the long weekend, check out the Mississippi Children's Museum's Paw Patrol Adventures exhibit. This interactive exhibit opened in May and will run through September 8. Now's your chance to embark on a rescue mission just like the cartoon Paw Patrol.
- Finally, there's always something going on for dinosaur lovers at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. The current exhibit, “Dinosaurs Around the World: Wilderness,” takes you on a journey back in time with 11 animatronic dinosaurs. The exhibit is an outdoor extension of the museum's popular Dinosaurs exhibit, and runs through January 5, 2025.
