The flexibility of online schools gives both master's and doctoral students an advantage when it comes to balancing work, family and studies. But a recent paper found that: Illinois Professor Kang Hyun According to the American Journal of Distance Education, online graduate programs can make students feel disconnected from their school, professors, and peers. Online events and other activities can increase student engagement.
“Our resources also teach students about different modes of graduate-level learning and help them find the right online program,” Darland says, “but we also wanted to address issues central to online school, like student engagement. Learning how to communicate and collaborate effectively while hundreds of miles away from other students can be the difference between success and struggle.”
