Back to School: Education in the Hegel Archive This is the latest exhibit from the U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel Archives at Archives and Special Collections. The exhibit uses photographs and documents to highlight education issues within the Hagel Archives.
Senator Hagel visited dozens of schools across Nebraska during his term as a senator. The exhibit features 32 photographs capturing his visits to public and private schools from Omaha to Gering to Norfolk. The photos show him giving tours of the schools, eating lunch with students, speaking with teachers and administrators, and addressing students at assemblies and classes.
Among the documents on display are those that demonstrate the work Senator Hagel and his Senate office did to represent parents, children, educators, administrators, and other education stakeholders who had concerns about education law and policy when they sought funding and assistance on other issues.Specific issues addressed in the exhibit are the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Impact Aid, and K-12 and higher education funding.
