An immersive multi-day experience at Dragon Run allowed teachers to learn from their students’ shoes The last week of July marked the second year that Friends of Dragon Run hosted educators from the Mid-Peninsula as part of the Dragon Run Environmental Academy Mentorship (DREAM) program.
For three days, DREAM takes educators to the site and to the waters of Dragon Run to teach them about the local watershed and help them develop lessons to teach their students, all made possible by the FODR DREAM team, made up of retired teachers and master naturalists Molly Broderson, Carol Kaufman, Dave Norman, Terry Skinner, Bambi Thompson and Susan Walton.
This year's participants came from three school districts: Gloucester, King and Queen and Middlesex. The first two days focused on educators learning about Dragon Run through kayaking, hiking and lessons on the watershed, local species, water quality, citizen science and biodiversity.
